Three shootings in Killeen in as many days have left one dead, two wounded and many residents anxious.
The latest shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, when police responded to a gunshot victim in the 900 block of Sissom Road. A woman was shot in the leg. She has been released from an area hospital, a police report said.
Shannon Everett Harper has been arrested in connection with the shooting, said Carroll Smith, public information officer for the Killeen Police Department. As of Tuesday night, Harper remained in custody at the Killeen City Jail awaiting transfer to the Bell County Jail, Smith said.
Police continue to investigate a shooting that took place at an apartment in the 2900 block of Zephyr Road, reported shortly after midnight Saturday. The victim remains hospitalized recovering from his wounds.
The police report states that a man left his apartment to do laundry but returned to find his friend lying on his bedroom floor with a gunshot wound.
Smith said of the three shootings, the Zephyr Road incident is the only one which detectives do not have a solid lead in their investigation.
In another shooting, reported at 7:45 p.m. Sunday in the 4400 block of Alan Kent Drive, Tyrone Haskins, 18, suffered multiple gunshot wounds outside a home in the southwest Killeen neighborhood. He was airlifted to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, where he was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m. Sunday by Justice of the Peace David Barfield.
Barfield ordered an autopsy to be performed by Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
