A Killeen man is in custody in a coastal Virginia town after local police say he sodomized a 16-year-old boy.
Thomas Edward Stowers, 35, has been charged with two counts of sodomy by force or victim helplessness, one count of abduction with intent to defile and purchasing alcohol for a minor. Stowers remained in the Newport News City Jail on Thursday, according to Newport News Police Officer Harold Eley.
Newport News police arrested Stowers on Monday. Stowers had been stationed at a local military base, Eley said.
The charges stem from a May 30 incident, a Memorial Day gathering, in which Stowers allegedly sodomized a teenage boy in the boy's house.
Eley said Stowers faces abduction charges because police determined the boy was in fear of leaving the residence. Stowers has been charged with two counts of sodomy because police believe he assaulted the boy more than once on the day of the incident, Eley said.
Police became aware of the incident after the party. Police conducted an investigation and got a warrant for Stowers' arrest Aug. 20, Eley said. That warrant was served Monday.
