A Killeen police officer hit by a car while chasing a suspect in a sexual assault is out of the hospital.

Police have not released the officer's name, but department spokeswoman Carroll Smith said he is home and in good condition.

A car struck the officer as he ran across West Hallmark Avenue on Tuesday. He was chasing Roel Reando Brown, a 25-year-old suspect in an alleged sexual assault of a child that took place May 21.

Brown is scheduled for arraignment today. On top of a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child, he could face charges stemming from the foot pursuit and the officer's injury, Smith said.
