Killeen police are investigating a Thursday shooting that left a 51-year-old man dead.
Officers responded to a 911 call at 7:14 p.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of Linda Lane. A man with a gunshot wound to the chest was transported to Fort Hood’s Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 8:48 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin, who ordered an autopsy, police said.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim, whose name was not released by police Thursday night, and his brother were involved in a verbal altercation when the argument turned physical and he was shot. The suspect, a 55-year-old Killeen man, was taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail, police said. His name was withheld pending formal charges.
