Two Killeen men are behind bars after police say they broke into an apartment and assaulted two people.
Adrian Burnett Johns, 22, and Joseph Lamar Dixon, 20, are charged with burglary of a habitation in connection with an incident at an apartment complex in the 300 block of East Bryce Avenue in Killeen.
Police arrested Johns and Dixon Saturday after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance just before 4 a.m.
When police arrived, they spoke with a male and female who told police Johns and Dixon had forced their way into an apartment. The alleged male victim was the only one home when the door was kicked in.
Johns and Dixon began to hit the male and eventually forced him out of the apartment, an arrest affidavit states.
The female returned to the home to find Johns and Dixon inside. When she asked where the male was, Johns stated they had "put him out," the affidavit states.
Then Johns grabbed the woman by the throat and slammed her head against a window, breaking the glass. Dixon also began to hit the woman.
The male then re-entered the home, and the two suspects assaulted him again, the affidavit states.
Police said injuries to the two alleged victims were consistent with their stories. Officers also found damage to the apartment's door that appeared to have been caused by someone kicking the door in.
Johns and Dixon were still at the apartment complex when arrested.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned the two suspects Monday, setting their bail at $50,000 each. They remained in Bell County Jail Monday night.
