Killeen resident Chanelle Mendoza is preparing to walk 1,047 miles to honor those who are battling cancer, a cause near and dear to her heart.

On Oct. 29, Mendoza, 28, will take off on foot from Texarkana and head to Mooresville, N.C., to raise money for her father’s rising medical bills and the nonprofit Pink Heals organization.

More power to her; I hope she achieves her noble and worthy goal of raising the money.

I am curious as to how well using software to exercise will help with this. A flight simulator, I get, because a pilot's using mostly software anyway. But a walk simulator? I hope there's a followup story later in this quest.
