The city of Killeen is currently looking for someone to fill the position of animal control manager on a permanent basis.

The position was posted to the city's website earlier this week, and does not list a deadline for applications.

The animal control supervisor is responsible for the overall management of animal control, including running the city's animal shelter. The former manager, Stacie Sherva, was placed on administrative leave last October and was fired in January.

Since Sherva's departure, Killeen Police Department Commander Lee Caufield has served as the interim animal control manager.

While the city searches for a new animal control manager, the Killeen Animal Shlelter will host an adoption event at the PetCo in Harker Heights from 11 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday.
