Armed with Silly String, a boom box and large checks, members of the Killeen ISD Education Foundation’s grant patrol made surprise visits to award funds for professional development to KISD teachers and principals this morning.
The group visited the Cavasos, Clifton Park, Fowler, Olveta Culp Hobby and Montague Village elementary schools, as well as Palo Alto Middle School and the Killeen Learning Support Services facility on Rancier Avenue. The foundation awarded more than $34,000 in grants.
“This is always the best part of the process,” said Wayne Moore, a foundation board member. “You know that this grant money is going to help our teachers and ultimately benefit the students at these schools.”
The grants are written by school staff and submitted to the foundation, which selects which grants to fund. The money used to fund the grants is raised through donations.
