The Killeen Independent School District announced Thursday that Joseph Welch, principal of Manor Middle School, was named the new executive director of student services.

Welch has been in education for many years, including positions as a classroom teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal at both middle school and high school levels, according to information from the district.

As the executive director of student services, Welch will be responsible for providing leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the district’s special programs, including athletics, community relations, health services, enrollment center, student hearings, attendance, grants, fine arts and transportation.
