The Killeen Fire Department was called to the scene of a fire at the Terrace Heights apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.

About 20 firefighters responded to the 2 p.m. blaze, which ignited in an apartment on the second floor of the complex in the 1700 block of Terrace Drive.

The fire was put out within 45 minutes, and is believed to have originated on a stovetop inside the apartment, Killeen Fire Department Deputy Chief Brian Brank said.

“The fire was halted in that room, and did not spread,” Brank said.

Ambulances were called to the scene, but no one was injured.

Brank said the apartment sustained “major damage,” and the tenant would have to be relocated. Some neighboring units may have minor smoke damage, he added.
