LAMPASAS — City Council members approved two and rejected two change orders for the joint-use fire station under construction on Fourth Street.

The orders involving the disposal of a septic tank discovered on the site and the installation of an additional silt fence gained council approval, while proposals regarding emergency lighting in truck bays and removal of a curb for future paving were rejected.

The underground storage tank was discovered on the construction site a couple of weeks ago, Fire Chief Terry Lindsey said.

“We had to dig it out and remove the contaminated soil,” Lindsey said. “It cost us $726.”

Ongoing construction and some bad weather conditions led to the site requiring an additional silt fence, costing an extra $660.
