A small group of animal activists and animal shelter employees gathered at the Killeen Animal Shelter on Friday at noon for a surprise presentation of a new, industrial-grade air purifier.

The air purifier will be used in the stray dog building at the shelter to help eliminate harmful bacteria and viruses in the air.

“The air purifier cost right at $1,000,” Linda Marzi, with the Killeen Animal Alliance said. “All the money for the air purifier came from anonymous donors.”

The air purifier is the Air Oasis 5000PRO, and is recommended for areas up to 5,000 square feet in size.

This is the fifth air purifier to be installed at the Killeen Animal Shelter this year, with the shelter purchasing four purifiers for the cat rooms in late September.
