NEWS ALERT

Residents of the Splawn Ranch subdivision no longer need to boil their water.

The city of Killeen lifted the boil water notice, which had been issued on Thursday, on Saturday afternoon, according to a press release issued by Hilary Shine, Killeen city spokeswoman.

A break in a water main at 10:30 a.m. Thursday had caused a water outage in the Splawn Ranch subdivision and the surrounding area, requiring the boil water notice.

City crews turned off water service in order to make repairs to the water main. The crew completed those repairs Thursday evening, Shine said.

Water quality tests were completed showing the water is safe to drink without boiling.
