The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily deactivate the traffic signals in Killeen at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Stan Schlueter Loop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10.

The deactivation, according to a press release, is to replace and switch the location of the signal controller cabinet. Traffic through the intersection will be controlled by law enforcement personnel until the work is completed and the signals are reactivated.

Surely, in the entire state of Texas, there is more than one control cabinet that will work at that intersection. Why can't they install the new cabinet and get it ready to accept control of the intersection, then merely turn one cabinet off and turn the new one on. Electricians do it all the time with electricity. I guess it's harder to push those green, yellow, and red signals through the wires than just simple electricity!
