Killeen police Chief speaks to cadets at the James L. McCarroll Basic Police Officer Course Training Facility.

People interested in a career as a Killeen police officer are invited to join the department recruiting team for a career workshop Saturday.

The workshop will be held at the Killeen Police Department Headquarters, 3304 Community Boulevard, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those interested will get to interact with officers from the K9 unit and SWAT team, as well as other officers.

The department is looking for individuals who are highly motivated, honest and ready to serve their community. Those who attend will be given the opportunity to run an obstacle course at the training academy.

The timeline for this event will be as follows:

10 a.m to noon: A question and answers session with officers in the Community Room at police headquarters.

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Obstacle course. The location will be provided to anyone interested in participating in this event.

If you want to become a police officer, make sure the agency employing you will remain financially solid. All police agencies are solid, its their governmental body controlling them that is suspect. Good luck to anyone seeking a career in REAL police work.
