Texas House District 54 Rep.-elect Scott Cosper, left, speaks with Killeen Mayor Jose L. Segarra during an event at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center.

Texas House District 54 Rep. Scott Cosper, R-Killeen, will open a new district office in Lampasas, according to a news release.

District 54 covers most of western Bell County and all of Lampasas County.

Cosper’s campaign said it would announce a date for the grand opening of the Lampasas office sometime in the spring. The new office will be located in the Lampasas Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center at 205 S. Highway 281.

“Since being elected to the Texas House of Representatives I have looked for ways to make my office more accessible to the citizens of District 54,” Cosper said in the release. “Bringing a district office to Lampasas has been a priority for me and I am happy to be able to partner with community stakeholders to make this a reality.”

Cosper’s sole district office is in Killeen at 2916 Illinois Ave.

Cosper is facing two Republican challengers in the March 6 primary for the District 54 seat: Dr. Brad Buckley, a Killeen veterinarian, and Larry Smith, a Killeen contractor and retired Army captain.

Hopefully he'll be soundly trumped by Dr. Buckley and won't be opening an office.
