The Copperas Cove City Council is expected to vote on phase one of park improvements at its meeting Tuesday.

Phase one is expected to be the first of four to make improvements to city parks.

A workshop meeting will be at 5 p.m. and the regular city meeting at 6 p.m. Both meetings will be at 508 S. Second St., Copperas Cove.

City staff and BSP Engineers Inc. recommended the city manager enter into an agreement for the park improvements in the amount of $1,088,232 to Quality W Contractors LLC.

Park improvements include enlarging the parking lots, creating sidewalks and walking trails, remodeling restrooms, pavilions, adding monument signs and upgrading playgrounds.

Improvements will also add fitness sections along the trails, security lights, multipurpose fields and splash guards.

Council members are also expected to discuss and possibly act on a licensing agreement for amateur radio; look at a final plat for the transportation facility; consider casting votes for candidates to serve on the Coryell and Lampasas Central Appraisal District board; consider and approve an agreement with the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance; and amend the capital improvement plan for 2018-2022.

Council members are expected to discuss a parking ordinance at the workshop.
