COPPERAS COVE — The City Council will discuss adopting new park hours for all municipal parks within the city during a regular meeting Tuesday evening at the Economic Development Corporation building.

The council will discuss changing the opening time for all city parks from 6 a.m. to 5 a.m. to allow residents more time for walking and running in the park.

During the council’s Jan. 3 workshop meeting, staff sought discussion and direction on park hours.

The council requested a future item to amend the current ordinance, which has the city’s park hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

This would reflect as the park hours for the following parks:

  • City Park.
  • High Chaparral Park.
  • Kate Street Park.
  • Highland Park.
  • Heritage Park.
  • Edgar H. Rhode Park.
  • South Park.
  • Ogletree Gap Park.

The council is also scheduled to discuss declaring a property surplus and authorizing City Manager Andrea Gardner to complete the sale of property located on the northern right of way of Boys Ranch Road, east of Deer Trail.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the EDC building, at 210 South First St,, in Copperas Cove.
