More than 500 people and 300 jeeps participated in a #savannahstrong parade past the home of Savannah Lewis, a 16-year-old Copperas Cove resident who has been battling cancer for a little over a year.

Lewis and her father share a love for the vehicles, and local jeep owners came together to parade past her house in the vehicles Sunday.

“There were people in the parade who came from as far as Missouri to be a part of this, and we all had a blast participating,” parade participant Mike Bartoszek Sr. said. “She actually sat outside and waved as best she could as we all drove past.”

The parade of jeeps started at 11 a.m. at the Copperas Cove H-E-B and the procession took about one hour to make its way past Lewis’ home.

Being stricken, at such a young age, seems so terribly unfair. I tip my hat to all those people working so hard to make a young girls last days enjoyable. May God Bless you all.
