A vehicle engine fire sparked a grass fire in a vacant lot south of I-14/U.S. Highway 190 and east of Trimmier Road on Friday afternoon.

The lot is surrounded by businesses, including several motels, a restaurant and a grocery store.

The Killeen Fire Department responded to the scene with at least two engines and a booster truck. It took less than 30 minutes to get the flames extinguished.
