Though the average price of gas in Texas has increased in the past week, the greater Killeen-area still had prices nearly 15 cents lower than that average, according to AAA Texas and GasBuddy.com.
Three places in Killeen had a gallon of regular unleaded for $2.11: The H-E-B at 1101 W. Stan Schlueter Loop, the Valero at 1000 W. Stan Schlueter Loop and the H-E-B at 2511 Trimmier Road. That's according to GassBuddy.com as of 2 p.m. Saturday.
The 7-Eleven at 1001 Willow Spring Road and the Mobil at 1219 S. Fort Hood St. each had gas for $2.13 a gallon on Saturday.
Two gas stations in Copperas Cove boasted the lowest price in the area Saturday. The H-E-B at 2990-A E. U.S. Business 190 and the Murphy USA at 2712 E. U.S. Business 190 both had gas for $2.09 a gallon. Meanwhile, the Exxon at 2411 E. U.S. Business 190 and the 7-Eleven at 2124 E. U.S. Business 190 each had a gallon of regular for $2.11.
In Harker Heights, three places on Saturday had a gallon of gas for $2.11: Sam's Club at 600 W. Central Texas Expressway, the Murphy USA at 2010 Heights Drive and the H-E-B at 601 Indian Trail Drive. The Valero at 601 E. Central Texas Expressway and the Walmart at 960 E. Farm-to-Market 2410 each had gas for $2.13 a gallon.
Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in Midland are paying the most on average at $2.48 while drivers in San Antonio are paying the least at $2.18 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.51, which is two cents more than this day last week and 15 cents more than the price per gallon at this same time last year.
Texas, Missouri and Alabama are among the states with the lowest gas prices.
“Texans are finding savings at the pump as Texas has the second cheapest gas price average in the United States this week,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesman.
