A boil water notice is issued for the following properties beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, according to a City of Killeen news release:

  • 1409, 1713 and 1801 Duncan Ave.
  • 1602 to 1719 Cole St.
  • 1501 to 2005 Poage Ave.
  • 1505 to 2008 Alamo Ave.

City crews will be replacing a fire hydrant and must turn off water service to complete the work. Water service will not be available from approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Residents in the affected location are cautioned to BOIL ALL WATER BEFORE CONSUMING beginning at 7 a.m. Residents will be notified when the boil water notice is lifted.

Residents may call the Water and Sewer Services help line at 501-6319 with questions or concerns, the release stated.

TCEQ required notice:

Due to conditions caused by maintenance of the water system, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requires the city of Killeen, PWS 0140006, to notify all customers in the above listed area to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and for making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source. When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you.
