Killeen police have identified 41-year-old Jose Rojas, of Harkers Heights, as the victim in a fatal motorcycle collision Saturday.

Killeen police said officers responded to the 2300 block of Florence Road at 8:08 p.m. in response to a crash call.

Upon arrival, officers found a black Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Rojas, and an orange motorcycle, operated by another biker, in the roadway. Police said the operator of the orange motorcycle was conscious on the side of the road, and Rojas was lying unresponsive in the roadway.

Officers unsuccessfully attempted to perform CPR on Rojas until emergency medical services arrived.

He was pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown.

Police said officers were told the two motorcycles were traveling southbound on Florence Road before colliding and ejecting both bikers.

The second biker was treated and released at the scene.

An autopsy has been ordered from the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. | 254-501-7567
