A motorcyclist died after crashing late Thursday night on Elms Road in Killeen, police said.

The rider was identified by police as 46-year-old Xavier La Monde Banks.

The single-vehicle motorcycle crash was reported about 11:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of Elms Road, said Ofelia Miramontez, spokeswoman for Killeen Police Department. No other injuries were reported.

Banks was eastbound on Elms Road when he failed to make a turn, went off the road and struck a pole, police said.

He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown at 12:40 a.m. An autopsy was ordered from the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.
