FORT HOOD — The sun was shining and music was playing as the horn sounded for just over 500 people to take off and participate in the sixth annual Run for Remembrance 5k Run/Walk on Fort Hood on Saturday.

Over 7,000 boots lined the roads at Fort Hood near the III Corps parade field. Each boot represents a service member who has died due to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan Sept. 11, 2001.
