A woman has died as a result of an accident on Interstate 14/U.S. Highway 190 Thursday night.

The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed the incident occurred  near Clear Creek Road between Killeen and Copperas Cove at approximately 9 p.m.

"A 2004 Kia Optima was traveling east bound when a female pedestrian walked into the roadway in front of the oncoming vehicle," said Sgt. David Roberts, DPS spokesman.

The Kia struck the pedestrian, who was identified as Tiffany Nicole Waff, 33, of Killeen.

Waff was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eastbound traffic on that stretch of the roadway was shut down while emergency crews cleared the scene.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to Roberts. The 18-year-old driver of the Kia, a Killeen resident, has not been cited or charged at this time.

DPS reminds pedestrians to avoid attempts to cross controlled access highways.  Pedestrians should use overpasses and crosswalks when attempting to cross a roadway.

Tiffany used to walk all over Killeen asking random people for rides. She could be seen walking the sides of highways and downtown. She also frequented shelters and group homes. I don't think this was a suicide attempt. Rest in Peace Tiffany

Out at 9:00 p.m. this time of year? Probably wearing black clothes. Stepped into the path of the vehicle? Sounds to me as if she wanted to get out of this world. Well, she timed it just right!
