Funeral services for the Gatesville student who died when his pickup crashed on Wednesday have been announced.

The community is invited to gather at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Gatesville Civic Center to remember Clancy Lawhorn.

Lawhorn, 16, a Gatesville High School sophomore, was alone in his pickup Wednesday night when it crashed east of Gatesville on State Highway 107, about a half mile before Fort Gates Road.

First responders arrived on the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m, according to Sgt. Robbie Barrera, Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman. They found that Lawhorn’s vehicle had rolled into a ditch and struck a fence. Lawhorn was ejected from the vehicle, causing his death.

Visitation for Lawhorn will take place Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Scott’s Funeral Home, 2425 E. Main Street, Gatesville.

Burial will follow the funeral services Sunday at Restland Cemetery.
