About 12,816 pounds of fully-cooked shredded beef products sold under the H-E-B label are being recalled because they may be contaminated with “extraneous materials,” specifically plastic.

J & B Sausage Company, Inc., doing business as J Bar B Foods, of Waelder, Texas, produced the food Sept. 16, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service news release.

The following products are recalled: 28-ounce trays of “H-E-B Fully Cooked Smoked Seasoned Shredded Beef with BBQ sauce,” with a use-by date of Dec. 15; and 16-ounce trays of the same product and expiration.

The products have establishment number “EST. 7066” inside the USDA mark of inspection, the release said. Although there were no confirmed reports of injury or adverse reactions after consumption, consumers should not eat them, and the products should be thrown away.
