There are several other ways to get home safely on New Year’s Eve.

Ride-hailing apps like Uber and Lyft are fully operational in Killeen. Both allow customers to call a ride for friends who are trying to get home safely as well.

With the Uber app, select the “someone else” option, enter your friend’s contact number and enter their pickup location. That person will get a text message notifications about their Uber driver’s location, estimated time of arrival, name, make and model of the car and license plate number.

With Lyft, it’s even easier. Just enter your friend’s address in the app, then request the Lyft. Call the driver and tell them the name of your friend that is being picked up, and enter the destination address into the app.

Three taxi companies also operate in the Fort Hood area and will be taking fares Sunday and Monday.

Fares with Cove Taxi, which operates in Copperas Cove, Killeen, Gatesville, Harker Heights and Fort Hood, can be arranged by calling 254-542-8628 or 254-542-4448.
