On Thursday, just one day before the filing deadline, Carlyle Walton and Gerald Dreher filed to run in the May 6 Killeen school board election.

Walton, 55, originally from Georgetown, is the CEO of Metroplex Hospital in Killeen. Walton lives in Harker Heights.

Dreher, 64, attended grade school in New York and is the chief of orthopedics for the VA medical center in Temple.

The Killeen Independent School District board now has four candidates with incumbent Marvin Rainwater and newcomer Robert Synder filing in the past two weeks. Two seats are up for grabs.

Incumbent board President Terry Delano decided not to run for re-election.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. Friday to file.

Candidates must submit a ballot application form to Kirk Thomas, the election administrator, at the school district’s administration building, 200 N. W.S. Young Drive in Killeen. They must return the paperwork in person.

Regular business hours at the district’s administration building are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Candidates who would like to have their photos in the Herald should mail a photo to news@kdhnews.com.
