A 27-year-old man was arraigned on a murder charge Monday. His bond was set at $1 million by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.

Michael Fitzgerald Reese, a soldier, is accused of shooting Justin Sheldon Richardson, 25, a Fort Hood soldier, early Saturday in the Denny's parking lot on South Fort Hood Street in Killeen. Richardson was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m. Saturday at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

Police said witnesses saw Reese arrive at Denny's angry and looking for his girlfriend, who refused to meet him in the parking lot. Richardson reportedly went out to the parking lot to attempt to calm Reese down.

A witness sitting outside the restaurant saw Reese fire two shots, and Richardson went down, police said.

Reese fled the scene and was taken into custody at the Killeen Police Department at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
