Harker Heights police arrested a 27-year-old man after they say he slapped a 4-year-old boy on the face.
Police arrested Christopher Michael Lassen II at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Monday after receiving a report from Child Protective Services about possible child abuse.
CPS and police spoke with the boy, who told an investigator Lassen sometimes smacked him on the face. The boy had severe bruising to his face, according to an arrest affidavit.
Lassen initially told police the alleged victim was injured while fighting with his brother at their Harker Heights home. However, he later changed his story, admitting to striking the boy on the face and grabbing his ears.
Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Lassen Tuesday, setting his bail at $100,000. Lassen remained in Bell County Jail Tuesday evening.
Potvin also arraigned Patrick Matthew Sullivan, 23, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams. Killeen police allegedly found Sullivan in possession of 9.5 grams of suspected Oxycodone on Sunday. His bond was set at $35,000.
