Killeen police arrested a 21-year-old man who led them on a high-speed chase through neighborhood streets.

Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin arraigned Kenneth Ray Alexander on Tuesday on a charge of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, setting his bond at $20,000.

Police arrested Alexander following a Sunday afternoon chase that began on East Veterans Memorial Boulevard. An officer saw Alexander driving over the posted speed limit and attempted to pull him over.

Instead, Alexander accelerated and turned into a residential area. Traveling as fast as 60 mph through a neighborhood, Alexander ignored several stop signs and made several turns in an alleged attempt to evade arrest.

The affidavit states officers followed Alexander for 4.7 miles before he stopped the vehicle.

He later told police he fled because he did not have a driver's license.
