BELTON – A homeless Temple man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday for indecency with a child by sexual contact.
Judge Fancy Jezek of the 426th District Court sentenced David Newton Staggs, 64, for the Aug. 17, 2008, incident, and sentenced him to seven years for bail jumping.
Jezek also sentenced:
Ruth Eileen Arthur, 43, of Killeen, to four years of probation for theft of more than $1,500 and less than $20,000.
Charles W. Burrough, 21, of Killeen, to three years of probation for retaliation.
Donald Greg Stokes, 27, of Harker Heights, to five years in prison for evading arrest.
Judge Martha Trudo of the 264th District Court sentenced the following on Friday:
Larry Thomas, 34, of Killeen, to 11 years in prison for a revocation on a controlled substance charge.
Jermaine Pettigrew, 29, of Killeen, to five years of probation for credit card abuse.
Courtney Jones, 30, of Killeen, to 85 days in county jail for possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
Daniel Phillips, 39, of Salado, to 10 years of probation for possession of child pornography.
Martin Durfee, 39, of Temple, to four years of probation for possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
Samuel Mendez-Ramirez, 40, of Bartlett, to six months in state jail for driving while intoxicated, third offense.
