Man indicted on assault charge

BELTON — A Bell County grand jury on Wednesday indicted a 31-year-old Killeen man after he reportedly threatened his family with a gun and fired shots at his sister.

Jeremy Neal Merino was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

According to arrest reports, Merino was arrested Sept. 19 after he threatened multiple times to kill members of his family, then fired shots at his sister from a vehicle. Police found a black, .40-caliber handgun and two spent shell casings in Merino’s vehicle, according to police reports.

Marino is currently in Bell County Jail, and his bail is set at $100,000.

Also indicted Wednesday were:

• Terry Lee Lewis, 38, of Harker Heights, on a charge of tampering with physical evidence, repeat offender.

• Avery Vaughn Milton, 38, of Harker Heights, on a charge of possession of marijuana, 5 pounds or less, repeat offender.

• Glenn Lewis 48, of Killeen, on a charge of possession of cocaine, less than 1 gram.

• Marcel Ferguson, 33, of Killeen, on a charge of criminal solicitation of a minor.

• Clinton Brunson, 49, of Killeen, on a charge of continuous violence of a family member.

• Jeffrey Scott Harris, 46 of Killeen, on a charge of criminal mischief, less than $20,000.

• Michael Eugene Prochaska, 58, of Harker Heights, on a charge of driving while intoxicated, third or more.

• Richard Floyd Curtis III, 30, of Killeen, on two charges of theft, enhanced.
