A man and a Killeen woman were killed Saturday night in a two-car crash on State Highway 195 in Killeen.

Nicole Pitman, 23, was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, stated a Killeen police news release Sunday. At 9:52 p.m., Potvin pronounced a 27-year-old man dead; his name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 9:15 p.m. about a vehicle traveling the wrong way on SH 195. A minute later, police were notified of a crash in the southbound lanes, the release stated. The officers arrived at the scene; the drivers of the two vehicles were dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Acura, driven by the 27-year-old man, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of SH 195. The Acura struck a 2010 Chrysler, driven by Pitman, that was traveling southbound in the inside lane.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Police continue to investigate.
