A Killeen man is behind bars after allegedly threatening a police officer during a traffic stop Saturday.

Timothy Lewis Perod, 56, was arrested by a Killeen police officer Saturday night after he was pulled over for speeding, according to an arrest affidavit. The officer approached the vehicle and said he observed the driver “to be intoxicated.”

The affidavit stated when the police officer asked Perod to leave the vehicle, he became “verbally offensive,” allegedly using racial slurs and told the officer he was going to “cut him up.”

Perod allegedly persisted in making threats to the arresting officer while being transported for a blood draw to determine if he was driving while intoxicated.

Perod told the officer, “I don’t know who you are, but I’m (going to) find out and going to kill you,” the affidavit stated. He also allegedly told the officer that he would “strangle him like a pig.”

Perod threatened to kill the officer 10 times, the affidavit stated.

Perod was arraigned on a felony charge of retaliation by Bell County Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke on Monday. His bail was set at $100,000.

In unrelated incidents, Cooke also arraigned:

Larry Darnell Reed, 29, on a charge of possession of cocaine, 1 gram or more but less than 4 grams. His bail was set at $30,000.

Jesse James Golston, 32, on a charge of burglary of a habitation. His bail was set at $50,000.

Tashi Chantol Torrence, 20, on charges of theft and debit card abuse. Her bail was set at $35,000.
