More than 300 residents voted in the first four days of early voting in Copperas Cove in a council seat runoff election.

Marc Payne and John Hull will face off in a runoff election Dec. 12, as neither candidate received a majority of the votes during the Nov. 7 general election.

Hull received 40.8 percent of the vote while Payne earned 40.2 percent in November for the City of Copperas Cove Council seat Place 6.

A third candidate, Danny Palmer, received 19 percent of the vote last month. Election ordinances require a candidate receive more than 50 percent of the votes to be elected.

The runoff election will be Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with polling at 201 S. Second St.

Early voting will continue Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Second Street location.

A total of 89 voters went to the early voting poll Monday, 91 on Tuesday, 45 on Wednesday and 89 voted on Thursday, for a total of 314 votes cast, according to Coryell County elections official Justin Carothers.
