Murder indictment released

GATESVILLE — The 52nd District Clerk’s office released on Monday the Coryell County grand jury’s murder indictment of Jeremy Fitzgerald, who is suspected of shooting another Gatesville man.

The indictment issued on Thursday states Fitzgerald, 27, of Gatesville, on May 27 reportedly committed an act “clearly dangerous to human life that caused the death of Adam Ruffin, by discharging a firearm” at the victim.

According to previous reports, Coryell County sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical technicians were dispatched at about 2:30 a.m. to the 4100 block of Highway 36, a trailer park, where they found Ruffin, 29, with at least two gunshot wounds.

The two men reportedly were at a bar the previous night and later went to Fitzgerald’s trailer, where they began to fight, stated the reports.

Coryell County Justice of the Peace Coy Latham pronounced Ruffin dead at Coryell Memorial Hospital at about 6 a.m. May 27 and later arraigned Fitzgerald.

Fitzgerald is out on bail.

The grand jury also indicted the following:

Jeffrey Darrin Backman, 28, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of burglary of a habitation.

Timothy Sedrive Marin Backwell, 19, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of theft less than $1,500 enhanced.

Chad Bone, 39, of Gatesville, on a charge of assault by occlusion.

Jayne Carolyn Boyle, 46, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of driving while intoxicated third offense or more.

Barry Brinegar, 41, of Gatesville on a charge of burglary of a habitation.

Alvin Eugene Brown, 43, of Gatesville, on charge of assault on a public servant.

David Heath Bruton, 32, of Gatesville, on a charge of assault causing bodily injury enhanced.

Joseph Carroll, 21, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of burglary of a habitation.

Duane Carter, 26, of Killeen, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Nina Lynne Carter, 49, of Gatesville, on a charge of forgery.

Shannon Ivy Chambers, 41, of Gatesville, on a charge of evading arrest.

Dorothy Rundle Clarke, 41, of Gatesville, on a charge of theft enhanced.

Jodi Ann Davis, 38, of Copperas Cove, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

John Junior Davis II, 41, of Gatesville, on charges of burglary of a building and credit card abuse.

Peter Alexander Davis, 25, of Gatesville, on a charge of tempering or fabricating physical evidence.

Clay Ryan Deleon, 18, of Gatesville, on a charge of forgery.

David Marvin Dunlap, of Copperas Cove, 31, on charges of forgery and theft more than $1,500.

Alvin Eaglin, 33, of Gatesville, on a charge of theft by check.

Brittany Lynne Shepherd, 21, of Gatesville, on a charge of fraud.

Jerry Dewayne Smith, 34, of Gatesville, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Scott Bradley Stepp, 30, of Oglesby, on a charge of indecency with a child.

Asa Bernard Thomas, 30, of Gatesville, on a charge of injury to a child and assault by occlusion.
