NOLANVILLE — The city council on Thursday decided that it wants one last look at the city’s comprehensive plan before sending updates to engineers for review.

The comprehensive plan was last updated in 2007, City Manager Stephen Pearl said.

The updates involve annexation, land use, drainage, thoroughfares and subdivisions. Pearl said TRC Engineers, who originally created the plan, will assist the city during the final review process.

“TRC is not going to write it but make recommendations if our streets need to be fixed and make sure we are up to date,” Pearl said.

Ideas to revamp the city that were discussed during a recent community workshop will be included in the plan as well, Pearl said.

“The city will review the zoning proposal and subdivision ordinance before completing the comprehensive plan update so that it can properly be included in the comprehensive plan proposal to TRC,” Councilman Dennis Biggs said.

The update will cost the city about $10,000. Pearl said the update is an investment for the city. The city will no longer have to pay when amendments are made since the engineers also will digitize the new comprehensive plan.

“So that in the future if we need to make any changes we can just make it without going to a firm,” Pearl said.
