Nolanville — Killeen Independent School District was locked down Nolanville Elementary at the request of police who are searching for a person in the area.

At about 9:30 a.m. today, the school was locked down based on a request from the Nolanville Police Department, said Todd Martin, a spokesman for the district. The lock down was lifted at about 10:05 a.m.

According to scanner reporters, police are searching for a man dressed in camouflage and hiding in ditches around the school. The police also reportedly blocked off several roads in the area to conduct the search.

“If the police make a request, we follow what they say,” Martin said. “Students are working their normal routine and they are safe.”

Lock down means no one can come or go from the school.
