NOLANVILLE — Spreading the holiday spirit across the city, City Manager Stephen Pearl and Mayor Christina Rosenthal drove around city limits Dec. 12 to see which residents decked their halls the best.

Unlike other neighboring cities that require residents to sign up to participate, registration is not required for the free Light Up Nolanville outdoor house decorating contest.

“This is a great contest because it brings wintertime joy to the entire community,” Pearl said.

The contest, which is in its third year, has a very simple judging criteria: the top three most decorated houses win. Despite being notified about their winning displays before the meeting, none of the winners were present at the council meeting Thursday.

Winners will receive a certificate and a trophy.

In other council business, council members voted to re-elect Sherri Morales as the mayor pro tem until the next election, per the city charter.
