Central Texas College honored one of its faculty members for her work in the college’s popular nursing program.
Patricia Rylander, a professor in the college’s associate degree nursing program, received the college’s annual DAISY Faculty Award in a ceremony Friday. The award is based on student nominations, and is presented each year to a faculty member for their positive impact on students.
Rylander has been an instructor at CTC for the past 11 years and has been a registered nurse for more than 30 years.
She currently teaches mental health nursing classes for second- and third-semester students.
Her work experience includes psychology and operating room nursing.
Central Texas College is one of 17 higher education institutions participating in the award program, which was established by the DAISY Foundation in collaboration with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
Other nursing faculty members receiving nominations for the DAISY award at CTC this year included Lisa Fox, Tiffany Marty, Tamara Parks, Susan Ramnarine-Singh, Gloria Smith, Pat Vasbinder and Delores Williams.
This was the fourth year the college gave out the award.
