FORT HOOD — Post officials on Monday released the name of a soldier who died Jan. 1 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple from complications of a long illness.
Sgt. 1st Class Devone Reynolds, 42, of Savannah, Ga., entered active-duty service in March 1992 as an automated logistic specialist. He arrived at Fort Hood in February 2010 and was assigned to the 27th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
Reynolds deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina from June 1998 to September 1998, and Iraq from April 2003 to January 2004. He also deployed to Afghanistan from February 2006 to May 2007.
Reynolds’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, six Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals, six Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, an Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, three Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, an Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons and two NATO Medals. He also earned the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Combat Action Badge and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
