Panda Power breaks ground on plant

Panda Power Funds hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking Thursday at Synergy Industrial Park in Temple for a natural gas-fueled power plant that will be capable of providing electricity for up to 750,000 homes in Central Texas.

The plant will have an economic impact of $1.6 billion on the Temple-area economy during construction and in the first 10 years of operation, according to a study by Impact Data Source of Austin.
