HARKER HEIGHTS - The City Council will decide the speed limit on Stillhouse Lake Road at a 5 p.m. meeting today.

The Texas Department of Transportation proposed speed reduction from Prospector Trail to the second entrance of Skipcha 23 Subdivision.

The city requested for Tx-DOT to perform a speed study because of the subdivision growth in the area, said Ken Roberts, TxDOT's Waco District spokesman.

"We have conducted the speed study and given them the recommendation of reduction of about 5 miles per hour," Roberts said.

The reduction will reduce the speed from 60 to 50 miles per hour in the area, according to city documents.

The portion of Stillhouse Lake Road after the Skipcha 23 Subdivison entrance to the city's limits will remain 60 miles per hour, according to city document.

The council will also:

Consider a resolution awarding a contract for the Roy Reynolds Drive & Business 190 Intersection Improvements Project.

Receive a presentation from a city business owner regarding displaying items for sale outside the business' building.

Conduct a closed meeting regarding commercial or financial information the council received from a business prospect the governmental body seeks to have in or near the general area of U.S. Highway 190 between Rosewood Retirement Center and The Shops at Modoc.

Conduct a closed meeting regarding commercial or financial information the council received from a business prospect that the governmental body seeks to have in or near the general area of FM 2410 and Verna Lee Boulevard.

The council meets in the Kitty Young Council Chambers at City Hall, 305 Miller's Crossing.
