A person died following an early-morning shooting Sunday in Killeen, according to a Killeen Police Department news release.

According to the release, officers responded to a shots-fired call in the 2300 block of Wales Circle at 3:09 a.m. When police arrived, they found a 29-year-old man in the street with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to Fort Hood’s Darnall Army Medical Center.

The victim was pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke ordered an autopsy.

The incident is under investigation, and more information will be released as it is made available, the release stated.

This was the 11th homicide in Killeen since Jan. 1.
