NOLANVILLE — The Bell County Water District No. 3 board voted unanimously to expand the district’s area of coverage at Monday’s regular meeting, procuring sites previously served by the 439 Water Supply Corporation.

The 439 Water Supply Corporation is a nonprofit, member-owned corporation based in Belton.

The increased coverage area is about 2½ miles in length. It includes 18 current properties that begin near Farm-to-Market 439 and 10th Street and stretch west to Pleasant Hill Road.

About $69,000 will go to the 439 Water Supply Company for already installed facilities after the contract is approved by state agencies.

It will make it easier for commercial developers to work in the area, officials said. With the procurement, developers can now build directly off BCWD No.3’s nearby lines, and it will not cost as much to pump water from Belton to the area.

The next step in the process is getting the contract approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, which could take several months.
