Early voting number breaks record in Killeen

Early voting ended Tuesday for area municipal and school board races in the May 10 election.

On Tuesday, 454 residents cast ballots in Killeen for the city’s municipal election and the Killeen school board race.

A total of 2,250 Killeen residents voted as of Tuesday evening, marking a record-high number of early votes in a Killeen municipal election. The previous record was 2,096, set in 2012. In Heights, 108 residents cast votes Tuesday, bringing the early voting total to 586 votes.

A total of 142 voters cast ballots in the Belton City Council and mayoral races during the early voting period.

Salado Independent School District’s total number of voters climbed to 567, up from 455 on Monday. The number of ballots cast in Salado’s mayoral and board of aldermen races climbed to 422 on Monday from 371 on Friday.

Area polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. For more information on the Saturday’s election, go to kdhnews.com/centerforpolitics.
