BELTON — Four candidates are vying for two open positions on the City Council, while the candidate for mayor is running unopposed.

The two council positions opened after Mayor Pro Tem Marion Grayson filed to run for mayor and Councilman John Agan did not file for re-election.

Grayson, 57, is a self-employed real estate agent.

The council candidates include Bruce Burleson, 62, an attorney for Scott & White Healthcare; Justin D. Winkler, 33, who is self-employed and a student at A+ Learning Academy; Paul H. Sanderford, 52, an attorney for Sanderford and Carroll, PC; and Guy O’Banion, 40, a United Rentals branch manager.

The mayor and six council members are elected at large on staggered terms. The city election is May 10.

Early voting is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays April 28 to May 6 at City Hall.

The city and Belton Independent School District will share a polling place at the Harris Community Center, 401 N. Alexander St., with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day.
